(Sorry about all the questions - i just like to really dig myself deep into the RP lands.)
I know it has already be stated that Slavery is legal in most places through out Zireling but it dose leave some questions - especially after reading some profiles and plots.
1. How do you tell who is a slave and who isn't? After all if there was no way to tell then surely it would be easy enough to round up a gang, ransack a village and then sell the people off as slaves. Word of mouth wouldn't really do as I'm sure actual slaves would also claim they were un-lawfully taken.
2. Are there any races that are always seen/sold as slaves?
3. Is slavery used as a punishment for crimes?
4. Can slaves win/ work back their freedom?
5. What methods are used to control the slaves? Chains/bonds, magic?
6. Do the slavers have to have a special license to catch/sell slaves?
7. Are their any rules as to how you are to take care of the slaves? Are these different depending on the race/age/sex?

It is alright. ^^ It’s nice to see someone so deep into it. I just woke up so… Yeah. Ebbing knows more than me, defiantly. Eh, I’m not that good in helping, so maybe someone else has different outputs to this… ________________________________________________ 1.) Usually, I would say they had some kind of collar, like a dog, if they were a slave. Shinta, one of my slaves, I really didn’t say what he had to make him a slave, you know. Only thing that makes him a slave is his memories about it. Vera, and her family, they had tattoos on the wrist or neck, or collars. So, I guess it just depends upon the “owner” of the slaves, or the member of the characters… As doe the gang thing… Maybe they had to have a special document from the King or some higher up official, in order to be slave ranchers or what not. ‘Cause you do have a point there…
2.) Not particularly, but I think Demons or Humans might be the main cause. Usually, weak or freak, are slaves. Well, on Zireling to me.
3.) I don’t think so. I think for crimes, they just go to prison for a set amount of days. Slavery is something else. I think.
4.) Hmm… Realistically, perhaps. Most just run away. Since slaves don’t really have money or get paid, buying their freedom is kind of slim; so the only option left is to really: run. So, that is what most do.
5.) whatever the owner decides. For my slaves, they used chains, weapons like daggers, threats, and if they moved too slowly, forgot to do something, or were just annoying, they got punished: and that fear alone got them to move, work harder, etcetera. So, it just depends on the owner, I guess.
6.) I think they do, else, like you stated, random people would go to villages ad steal people and such. So, a legal document, signed by the king or some higher-up official that deals with this kind of transaction, would be good.
7.) I think they are all treated the same. The one slave I have (since the other was born of a slave mother that ran away), they were treated and taken care of the same. Unless the slave is annoying or the person just doesn’t like them for a particular reason, they might pass up taking care of them. You have to work to live, and if you get sick, it’s your fault, not the slave owners. Eh, that’s what I think. It’s kind of like if you bred rodents. Wouldn’t care much if one was sick; you’d get rid of it or just get a new one to replace it.

I think Master explained it pretty well. ^^; But all of your questions can be answered with "it depends". One of my characters, Tamah, is called a servant, but really she's a slave to Royce. He does not put anything on her to signify this. She became his slave because her family lived on his estate and could not pay the rent, so he took her as rent. Another one of my characters, Lorna, is a slave to a very small fox demon. Again there is nothing to signify this and the fox demon { Foxie } did not gain possession over Lorna in any way. Foxie found Lorna and decided to call Lorna her slave. There is nothing physical binding Lorna to Foxie, but Lorna feels as though she needs the fox to live even though she hates every part of the fox demon.
So it really just depends on you and your characters as to how the slavery is set up. ^^; Some are physically bound, other mentally, while still others are both. Lots of options here. xDD

1. One solution would be that those of the kingdom is free to hunt character that is not citenzen of the kingdom, thought you could ask the character first and then roleplay it out
2. Are there any races that are always seen/sold as slaves?
3. that is not a bad idea if you ask me
4. the slave could work (watever they do) for an amount ecual to what the buyer paid for the slave
5. a magcal collar that, with that on the slave could not run away or harm its master
6. there could be a trial for those who want to sell slaves
7. I guess that isto be discussed by the slave seller and the buyer

----The Auction House I created could also fall in to this thread. Are charrie's bought/sold there slaves, or just captured people.... and once they are sold: Are they slaves until freed, or until their 'buyer' frees them?
