Questions!
Here is a place where common questions that have been asked, and their answers.

1.) What is this Karma thing I see? Why does it say Exhalt and Smite? Is this some kind of warning?
Karma is a ProBoards feature that allows you to give Karma or what I like to say a like-ness to another member of the board. Exhault means to give Karma, and Smite means to take karma away. Basically it is a popular system. If you like the person, or a character, or maybe you just want to, or perhaps it is a game, you exhault them if you feel like it, and smite them if they are being mean or what-not. It is like a small game, so do not take it so seriously if you do not have as much; it is nothing to worry about. You can only karma once per hour. No, you will not get warnings for smiting a staff member.
2.) Why must I PM the admin about my character profile?
You must PM DEMON CHILD with ether a link to the completed profile or some notification saying that you’re finished with the character so that the Admin of the Forum may add your character up with no hassle and or difficulty at all—that is, if it accepted. Call it a privacy feature. You wouldn’t want 5 replies saying revise for all to see, right? This way deems easier.
3.) I got a Note at the bottom of my reply form one of the Staff? Why did I get it? Is this a warning?
Notes on the bottom of posts are telling you what you did not do. Whether it be not posting the minimum five-sentences, God-Moding or Power-Playing (they are in the RULES), it is there to let you know to fix your post, before the Staff Member gets frustrated or something. No, it is not a warning, as we here are nice people, just like to have a lot of rules. If it was a warning, it would be posted and you will be PM'ed. So do not worry, just follow the note and modify your post.
4.) I have a species that is common but is not listed in the Dictionary. What gives? What do I do? Do I not make that kind of species? Also, my description for a species is different, what should I do as well?
Good question. You see, we here at Zireling Kingdom allow many races, and as you know there are many races that are not listed in the DICTIONARY, but that does not mean that you cannot use them. Take the Jinn and Shinigami for instance. They are not listed, but you may use them. Also, if your species description is different from what is listed in the DICTIONARY, do not worry; you may simply add it to your Character's Profile and state as so. No warning or anything would be given.
5.) This GM and PM are in the rules not to do, but I do not fully understand them. May I have examples so I know what not to do?
Of course! Ask and you shall receive!
Alright, for starters GM is God Molding. Basically, this makes your character invincible during any outcome; mainly fights and such. It means indestructible, almost like a God.
Examples of this::..
Steve walked calmly through the forest, confident that nothing would happen to him. After all what did he have to worry about? He learned a spell that made his skin stronger than steel, and he had immense power. Over the years of training in sword combat, he found that he could also wield the powers of the elements, all the elements! He could control and shape fire, summon large amounts of water to do his bidding, rip apart the earth to swallow up his enemies, create tornadoes, and even shoot lightning from his eyes. Any and everything that had to do with an element he could do it! Steve had become the best swordsman in all the kingdoms and could outmatch any who dared to oppose him. Just then lightning struck down from the sky, he calmly reached up, grabbed it, and threw it at the nearest tree without it ever hurting his hands.
See that? That is one good example of God-Molding. Thanks Pandabear for the definition. See how this Steve just grabbed the lightning with no problem and no pain at all? And the fact that he is the master of all elements? Sounds like some God, some indestructible being. Please refrain from doing that for it makes the Role Play more stressed and not that much fun.
Power Play? It is like Auto-Hit, or Auto-Kill; basically acting and or doing something else in the same post and not giving the person time to react or dodge to it. Basically, the dodge, dodge, hit idea works well. No one can dodge everything you know. Anyways...example.
Example of this::..
George sat still, watching the two friends fight over the last biscuit. Getting frustrated, he pulled the sword from its sheath and rushed the first friend. Pushing him back up against the wall, he heard a loud crack, he had broken the guys ribs. Dropping the guy with a disgusted look on his face, he turned around. Seeing the other friend quickly eating the food, he swung the sword and cut the guy clean in half. "That was my biscuit!" George growled, his eyes flashing dangerously. As the first guy began to get up, George quickly turned and plunged the sword through his skull.
See how he broke the man’s ribs and see how he plunged a sword threw his skull? That is stating the outcome of the attack in the same post. That is wrong. Also, controlling other people’s characters refers to Power Play as well. Just type up an attack and leave a space for the replying member to react. That simple. Thank Pandabear for this example as well.
6.) Why can I not have a character name Zephyr! Or Hope! I mean, they are my characters!!!
Okay now. In the Character Requirements area, there is a thread of TAKEN NAMES. It causes confusion if there are four Zephyr’s walking about, possibly in the same thread and people will not know which Zephyr they are talking or typing about. Really, if a name has been taken, change it. I had to change my own characters name from Rath to Tetsuia. You can do the same. All the change needs is a name. And yes, this is Zireling’s only claim.
7.) In the thread I am in the person or said member did not reply in over a month. What do I do? Also, if I do not want my character to be in a thread no longer and want to move my character elsewhere’s, what exactly do I do?
If no one replied in one month’s time from the date it was posted, then a staff member, mainly me, will move your board into the ARCHIVES and PM you that it was moved along with which characters were in it. After that is done, you can take that character and either put them somewhere else or PM the staff back and tell them to move your board back. If you are in a thread and no longer want your character there, all you have to do is make an exit for your character in IC post and in OC state that you took them out so that the other members, if they are not observant enough, may relate to that. Also, when you do that, please PM a staff member, mainly me for I work with the NEWSPAPER, and let me know so that I make take your characters name out of the thread in the Newspaper.
8.) I have a question. It says to PM you for a lot of things, does that mean character charts as well?
Yes, to does say to PM DEMON CHILD on some things. The only things you should PM him about are if you make a character, make a thread In Character, join a thread that is Open, or take your character out of a thread. CHARACTER CHARTS are completely optional and are there just for your entertainment or for you to get things organized. You do not need to PM any staff member about those! ^^;
9.) What is an NPC? Can I have one?
An NPC is a character that is not a main character; as in they do not have a profile. NPC stands for Non Player Character and often times, there are many in threads that you role play. Though, keep NPC abuse down! Saying that 100 men charged at you and your character killed them all with one swing of his or her blade—is considered Power Playing; and that is illegal here. So, yeah, you can have as many as you want; as they are not main characters; such as civilians and passer-byes of the sorts…
10.) How do I get an important role! If I get an important role, why is it that you guys say I don’t?
You can get an important role in the OCCUPATIONS thread. The Royalty is the main important roles as well as some others, but the rest are just regular roles that aren’t important really. Also, if you do by any chance pick a role there and it is removed it is from inactivity! Meaning you were not on in a month or did not post in a month. If that happens, just reapply for it; ask for it again. If someone has picked it because of your inactivity; then sorry, can’t help you. Kind of your fault if you never post in the ABSENCE thread, you know. =O Alas, the show must go on.
11.) I don’t get the Occupations. Can I just have a regular occupation and not sign up for that list?
Yes, you can. That list is just for famous and more important occupations. There are many thieves, but only a few listed, same with assassins and warriors. So, if you want your character to be the famous of the group, or what not, then I would suggest to reply there. Else, your character is just like any other Zirelander. Heh, Zirelander.
12.) There are things at the bottom of my profile, under “account notes”. Why are they there?
Depending on what it says, they are there for the staff here, mainly the two administrators. If you partook in a contest and won, it would say something along the lines of, “+100 for C.C.VII”, which is you got 100 points for winning the seventh caption contest that Zireling had. There are also other +’s and -’s there as well. Most are from contests and form the TRADE IT IN thread. They are there so we know if we added or subtracted money from your profile; it’s like proof, per se. so no worry. It is nothing bad.
14.) Why don’t you allow advertising on Zireling?
One… Too much of a hassle for our busy selves. Two… We would have to post back, and personally, we do not like to do that. Three… It gets messy, it is annoying, and other things I won’t list. Personally, affiliating is much easier and efficient for us, so we do that instead. Don’t like it, oh well. We will not be changing that anytime soon or in the near future. We are doing fine without it, and we refuse the chaos it brings. =)
15.) On the bottom of the CBox there is a “Recommended” section. How do I get my site up there?
First off, you must be affiliated with us to do this. Secondly, it is a member-only thing we have here. Sorry, guests. We here at Zireling have a little system. By trading in points in the RECOMMENDED SITES thread, you get your mini-banner posted there. And no, staff do not get discounts; we have to pay the same as the members. It is only fair. If that site grows inactive, it will be removed, just like regular affiliates. If that happens, just apply for it again, and we’ll add it on up. Don’t worry, it doesn’t cost that much. =) More rules and the like are in that thread, so go on and check it out of you are interested.
16.) Why are there so many rules? And I broke a rule, don’t I get a warning?
There are many rules for people are smart, and they find loopholes in things (like I do on a regular basis). They are also longer now for we had some issues in the past. Truth be told, they are just your average site rules. You know, like no god-molding, no power-playing, fade-to-black, respect, and yadda, yadda, yadda. There are just some extra things for Zireling is run a bit differently, but it is basically common sense. Have that, and you’ll do just fine. We like order, and not chaos. Break a rule? Hmm, it is alright. We here at Zireling are softies and normally don’t enforce punishment. Do it on a regular basis though, and you’ll be warned. We hate giving warnings. =(
17.) I was a member here before, but took a break form role playing. When I came back, my account was deleted! Why!? And where is my character? Can I rejoin?!
Inactivity. That is the main reason. There is an ABSENCE thread where people post their absences if they will be absent for more than three days (we worry). If you don’t post there, we assume you don’t care about us anymore, lost your[/i]muse[/i] for role playing, excreta. It is not our fault we don’t know. Plus, having inactive accounts hanging all over the place is unorganized to say the least. We also have activity checks. They are sent out via PM here, and E-Mail, so there should not be an excuse like you didn’t know. As for your character, they’re safe for the most part. So, if you had a character here, just ask the staff to retrieve it, and we shall if you cannot find it. As for rejoining—don’t need to ask, silly! Join back up, we would be glad to have you back. =)[/size][/blockquote]
18.) What is the difference between IC and OOC?
IC stands for In Character; that means the posts with your character on the boards, and their interactions. OOC stands for Out Of Character, which means basically everything that isn’t IC; such as games, the CBox, PM’s, etcetera, etcetera.
