Plot: Gravestrike, a corrupted paladin, smirked confidently as his tactician, Chainbrood, displayed their positions on a small-scale model of the region they planned on invading while his generals watched and listened to the plan. He glanced over to the position of Shadedart’s seat but noticed he was not there. He shrugged knowing the assassin to be one to skip meetings and turned his attention back to the tactician’s speech.
“Now as you can see, they have their defenses set around the front, east, and west while the mountains in the south are natural defenses. Slayblow will wait in the north with his group of barbarians to unnerve the enemy and prevoking the enemy with small attacks. While they are preoccupied with him, Charnelrot will hide in the west with most of the goblin army. Evilblink will wait in the east hidden as well. Once I give the signal, Charnelrot will unleash his hordes onto the west wall while Evilblink will unleash his goblin soldiers and spells upon the eastern wall. Once they are distracted with that, Slayblow will attack the north gate all out . Nailspike, along with Shadedart, will come from the south over the mountains and attack them with the trolls where they will will meet little resistance and crush through the southern gate penetrating the village's defenses and leading to their downfall.” He pointed out the word ‘penetrate’ by striking the table loudly with his fist. He looked over to his leader to get a hint of satisfaction.
He smiled wider when he noticed Gravestrike’s approving nod. His happiness vanished a moment later when the makeshift tent’s flap flew open and Shadedart entered the tent confidently. He made eye contact with the tactician and held back a chuckle as he noticed the his nervousness. “Good news,” the assassin grinned. “I have gathered another score and half more of goblins, half a score of trolls, and three giants to join our ranks”.
Chainbrood sighed loudly and stood up. “We don’t need more minions for our army. All we need is strategy and surprise. You go out attacking travelers missing important meetings for your so-called fun and soon the villagers will become curious and they will discover our plan. Without surprise and strategy the village can hold us back long enough to get reinforcements. We need to crush them swiftly and without mercy before winter covers the land. I’m paying you to follow my plans not to go about on your own and…”
Shadedart slowly held his hand up stopping the tactician in his speech. “You can keep your money. I came here for the thrill of killing not the money. As far as I’m concerned this village is as weak as the people living in it. I don’t care how you do it. I’ll follow your stupid plan but when I’m inside that place I’m doing it how I want to.” All the while, Gravestrike cared nothing for his general’s fighting but more for the soon coming invasion for the Isubuya region would soon be his for the taking.
Outside the tent two cloacked figures sat at the back of the tent on the edge of the trees. They gave each other worried glances as they listened into the enemies plans. They gave each other a nod at the end of the conversation. SLowly they began to creep backword when one clumsily ran into a goblin who was bringing firewood for some fire. They goblin let out a howl as he dropped the wood onto his feet and turned to hit the clumsy warrior when a sword slid into his side from the other warrior. The goblin let out a croacking sound and grabbed the hand that held the hilt of the sword and stared at it surprised. his eyesight began to darken and the last thing he saw was a glint of gold in the gathering darkness.
Inside the tent, the seven heard howl then croaking noise. Shadedart rushed forward drawing his sword at his side and lunge into the back of the tent cutting through the fabric with ease. He landed upon a scene of one surprised figure holding a dead goblin and another held a sword into the goblin's side. Both looked at him curiously. The one with the sword tore of his cloak revealing a figure clad in bright golden armor. He strainghted up an took a swashbuckling stance saying he was ready to fight. He look to the figure that finally dropped the goblin and tore off his cloak as well drawing a sword from his back.
The golden figure, Nimblewright, nodded at his friend. "get out of here Amaraq. Go tell Leon, I'll hold these scum off." Not hesitating, Amaraq took off with a nod to his friend and rushed towards the village.
Nimblewright turned to face Shadedart and the other generals who had begun to walk out fo the large hole in the tent. Shadedart casted the fleeing figure a glance and took a few running steps after him. "Coward get back here," he yelled.
He spun as gold filled his vision and rasiing his sword by instinct. A loud ring of steel against steel filled the cold dark night. Niblewright stood locking swords with the assassin while the other generals surrounded him. Nimblewright smiled. "leaving so soon. why dont you all stay and we can play a little game. It's called Life or Death. I think we'll all enjoy it.....
